Weekly Post #3: JJ Watt is an Arizona Cardinal

After a few weeks of heavy speculation and a little bit of trolling, mostly caused by the fans themselves, J.J. Watt has finally found a new home. However, it is with a team not many expected. J.J. Watt signed a massive 2 year contract worth $31 million dollars, $23 guaranteed, with the Arizona Cardinals. He now teams up with former Houston teammate, DeAndre Hopkins.

If Watt can stay healthy, this move will no doubt help the Cardinal’s defense. The Cardinals played without Chandler Jones last year, and now it feels like the Cardinals are adding two of the best pass rushers in the NFL. Watt is getting older, but he can still play at a high level.

The Cardinals defense was not that bad last year, with players like Haason Reddick and Budda Baker taking giant steps forward last season, and adding top tier pass rushers will only make the secondary’s job easier. After this signing, Reddick is most likely gone, but it can help the Cardinals bring back Patrick Peterson or even sign/draft players to help with the secondary later this offseason. Either way, this move should be the first in a busy offseason for a Cardinals team that seems close to ready to compete for a Super Bowl
